Dear Sweet Isla Jane,
In only 4 more days you will be 21 months old. You have settled into nursery school so well. You love to go and play with your friends, read your favorite Numbers book and do circle time and matching. Everyday you come home with a daily report and art project 😀 Most days it says you ‘ate about half’ and after the first week the check box next to nap moved from ‘rested’ to ‘slept’ which is unbelievable to me! Your teacher texted me a picture to prove it was true and I just couldn’t believe it!
You are so animated and full of expression and passion. When I hung your artwork on the wall you stood and pointed up at it with recognition, so proud. I can’t believe how much pride and joy I feel at the sight of your little masterpeices hanging there in all their glory.
I never got a chance to post your first day of nursery school pictures from last month so I’ll include them here… The first ones were taken in mid-July on your first morning of school. We packed Minnie & Goofy (aka Hot Dog) along with your snacks and pillow that wouldn’t be used for another week.
In the month since starting school you’ve started to say more and more words (but still not Mommy!) You love books now and bring them to me and point out the things you recognize. When I sing the ABC song you mouth some of the words and probably wonder how on earth I know the same songs they sing at school!
When you started nursery school I worried that I was sending you too early, that you weren’t ready to be away from family all day, that you’d feel abandoned. But I can tell you love it and you learn so much. When I went to your open house last week I got to see you play with the other kids and hear all about how you are a “hoot and a half”.
I am so so proud of you Isla. I can’t wait to see the little girl you’re growing into. I am so lucky to be your mommy.
One month later… <3
And as much as I loved that last one in black and white, I just can’t resist it in color with your red hair and blue eyes. Dirty dress and all 😛
