Kids Were Here – June

This month I wanted to share this quote I came across by one of the original KWH photographers:

“in the moment it is easy to get frustrated with all the mess and clutter that results from living with children. this set reminds me how quickly it will all pass. one day the toys will be in totes no longer played with. i will miss this. i’m reminded to slow down. to not stress about it. my happiness is not dependant upon everything put back into place and a neat and tidy home.

one day we will have a wonderful reminder. evidence left behind written upon our hearts and minds of our children. photographs that will bring us back to this very day, when our kids were here.” -jude wood

Thanks for taking a look at my evidence that Isla was here. 🙂 Now head over to Lauren’s blog to see her evidence!

  • Melanie - First blog stalker to comment! haha! These are awesome!ReplyCancel

    • jessicathomason - I love blog stalkers!!!! Thanks Melanie!ReplyCancel

  • Maria Gernert Conover - omg Seriously? The water shoes, and ocean, sand and toys…you’re killing me! Donald in a time out and the dog food scattered all over the floor! The quotes are perfect because when I see your pictures I can’t wait for Elyza to be older so I have more to photograph and she is a little more independent. But then she won’t be 11 months anymore and not old enought to walk so I have to carry her and snuggle her and I’ll constantly be running after her and asking her to slow down. It’s always bittersweet isn’t it? From this moment forward there will never be a moment where I won’t ” want her to be older but to stay the same age at the same time”. It’s like hurry up but WAIT no slow down. I love these posts so much.ReplyCancel

  • Amber Michele Shankland - I LOVE Donald! HIs face is SOOO Serious! And that organic milk. And I can’t read that comment Maria wrote because it makes me CRY! It seriously goes by so FAST and so slow all at the same time! OMG! <3 <3 <3.ReplyCancel

  • Erin - The dog food!? OMG. So perfect!ReplyCancel

  • Jaimi - The beach shot is soooo precious. The toys & little shoes are so telling of what age she is. A perfect representation of photographing your child without her presence in the frame. Love the dog food, too. And – boy! Donald looks real peeved to be stuck where he is!!ReplyCancel

  • Felicia Chang - Love the beach shot! You are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place! And hands down fav is Donald. Love how his shadow falls on the couch and it’s the perfect expression!ReplyCancel

  • Lauren - Omg, that Donald shot is freaking hilarious! The Mega Blocks shot totally pulls on my heartstrings, that is my floor too. Beautiful work again this month Jessica!ReplyCancel

  • Tina - Jessica, love the beach shot and the people in the background – not sure if you know them or not but it’s as if you’ve shoot this from the kids prospective and their the parents watching out for them. great!!ReplyCancel

  • Trenity Whitfield - Oh the megablocks! Don’t they get everywhere? But it’s totally ok because they are so much fun for them! My favorite has to be the spill on the floor because my kitchen floor looks like that EVERY time my boys eat. Such beautiful images, I love them all!ReplyCancel

  • Lauren - I love your photos SO much Jessica… these are no exception. You’re got a lot of great evidence that a sweet little girl is in your life. <3ReplyCancel

  • Gina - Jessica these are fantastic captures! The cereal on the floor…my floor too. Love your work!ReplyCancel

  • Kristi - The beach shot is definitely my favourite! They are all beautiful though!ReplyCancel

  • Kate - LOVE! that random milk on the window sill? So the same story at my house!ReplyCancel

  • Jessica Thomason - Thanks Maria! Oh gosh it’s so sad to say goodbye to one stage but the next is so exciting!!! You are toning your arms now and you’ll be toning your thighs when she starts running away from you! Donald is so mad!!! Poor Donald! It’s interesting to see what types of evidence are left depending on the age of the kids in the blog circle 😀 I love the different perspectives! It is a little harder when they’re not mobile to find things to photograph!ReplyCancel

  • Jessica Thomason - Maria makes me cry daily! It is kind of unreal how fast it goes! Obviously she only ever drinks organic milk! (cause that’s what they sell at Starbucks 😉ReplyCancel
