I don’t go on walks much in the morning. I tell myself the sun is too bright and you can’t take good pictures.
But you can if you just look for the light. Even in the middle of the day, there is always good light somewhere.
Today I found some beautiful light shining through the moss hanging from some trees. And it was 10:30 in the morning, a time of day I would usually not even bother to bring the camera out.
I remember clearly the day I started to love Spanish moss. I had always thought it was so ugly as a kid. What was that gross stuff hanging from the trees anyway? When I started planning my wedding in Florida (while living in Virginia), our wedding photographer (who is from Atlanta) mentioned how beautiful the Spanish moss was at our venue. I thought to myself, Really? People think that’s beautiful?
And then the wedding came and the pictures were delivered and I saw that the photographer had actually photographed the moss. Like, on purpose. Not in the background of another picture. The moss was the subject. And it was beautiful.
Sometimes you can see something a million times, but only when properly photographed do you appreciate it’s true beauty.
